The Big Why

The Big Why

From The Beginning

When I think of car people I think of mechanics. I think of gear heads. I think of guys with 3 project cars scattered across their garage, or old timers that can point at a 1965 Mustang and tell how much torque it has at the wheels. I have always coveted the intimate knowledge of cars and the way those who are comfortable with their inner workings can sling verbiage around like an old waitress in a Midwest diner. The ease that comes with years spent tinkering with a family heirloom or watching dad work under the hood of his mid life crisis. I appreciate and respect everyone that can work a wrench and I consider it a skill that will bring joy to anyone who seeks to obtain it.

Despite my lack of experience under the hood or in the shop, I have found that there is also something to be said about those who belong behind the wheel.

I never had exposure to cars growing up. My childhood is a whole different blog post that you wouldn't want to read, but the short of it is that I was not born into the world of speed and petrol and burning rubber. Cars were not big in my family and my parents were flat out against supporting anything that had to do with performance vehicles. The automotive world was something I grew up watching from afar, the way a kid might press their face against the window on a beautiful day with too much homework to do. I've spent much of my life feeling like an outcast in a world that I felt that I belonged to. I love everything about cars and being in the driver's seat is basically my happy place. I just never cared to learn the lingo, and I always wanted the work I did to my car performed by someone better at the job than me. On my first car I finally worked up the courage to paint my brake calipers blue, a 2 door v6 Honda Accord with black leather seats, and then almost crashed it driving home because I hadn't bolted the tires back on all the way.

And yet I'm still here, trying my best to sound like I know what I'm talking about in a sea of men and women who have dedicated healthy portions of their lives to creating their ideal driving masterpiece. VoidRabbit was inspired by my love for my VW GTIs and my respect for its predecessor, the MK1 VW Rabbit.  I'm not the guy that can give you a full breakdown of the MK1's inner workings, the story behind its manufacturing or even say I've driven one.  But I understand why it was great. I can feel the impact it created in the automotive world, the way it changed what a car could be, and I have tried to emulate that energy within a brand that celebrates being absolutely comfortable in motion.

To me, VoidRabbit is more than a name or a logo or a way to make money on the side. This brand represents grace, agility, raw speed and the will to overcome a faster, stronger foe in order to survive. Born from nothing yet relentless in search of betterment at the mercy of those we encounter, our only choice is to outsmart, outmaneuver, or outwrite dissolve into the Void of our own fears to emerge on the other side victorious. Whether we are running to or from something doesn't matter, we've all found something special in the automotive community.

So thank you to those that wish to be a part of what I am trying to create, You are family in my eyes and I will be forever grateful for your support. As for the rest - Go Chase Rabbits.
